Terms & Conditions
Tournament Specifics - Manx Cup Qualifying
- Manx Cup is a 3 phase pool tournament consisting of 7 rounds, with a 1 round playoff if necessary.
16 entries & above will result in a playoff to qualify for the 3 stage group tournament.
Example – 19 entries will result in the top 13 players advancing to the Manx Cup and the remaining 6 players in a playoff 14 v 19 / 15 v 18 / 16 v 17 – even numbers have white.
In the event of a draw, the winner will be decided by a blitz play-off after all games have finished. The play-off will consist of blitz games until we have a winner, with reversed colours, rate of play of 5 minutes plus an increment of 2 seconds a move. Winning players will progress to the Manx Cup, remaining players will move into the Manx Pool – refer to the Manx Pool tournament page. - Stage 1: Manx Cup Quarterfinals – The 16 qualifiers are split into 4 groups of 4 players. (1, 5, 9 & 13 / 2, 6, 10, 14 / 3, 7, 11 & 15 / 4, 8, 12 & 16) Each player plays the other players once in their group.
The top 2 players from each group qualify for the semifinals. The bottom 2 players from each group move into the Manx Plate – refer to the Manx Plate tournament page. - Stage 2: Manx Cup Semifinals – The 8 remaining players are split into 2 groups of 4 players. (A1, B2, C1 & D2 / A2, B1, C2 & D1) Each player plays the other players once in their group.
- Stage 3: Manx Cup Final – The two semifinal group winners play one match. The winner of that match becomes the Manx Cup Champion. Remaining players will play the corresponding player from the opposite group for the remaining places.
- NO RE-ARRANGED GAMES ON FINALS DAY – IF YOU CAN’T PLAY YOUR OPPENENT WINS BY DEFAULT.
Controller & Arbiters
- The Controller is Brian Woodard. The chief arbiter, to be assisted by the Deputy arbiters, the name of both arbiters will be announced before the tournament.
