Due to a reduced sponsorship for this years event the organisers have decided to drop the Open section and put the funds solely into the Major and Minor sections which proved the most popular in 2009.
As all players arrived in plenty of time for their first round games in 2009 and to try and maximise the playing time over the event an additional round has been squeezed for the afternoon of the opening day. If any competitors travel plans do involve arriving at a later time they will always have the option of a bye for this round.
Friday 24th to Sunday 26th September 2010
£3000 (See tournaments for prize distribution)
Cherry Orchard Aparthotel, Port Erin
David Sedgwick & David Welch -
Alan Robertson, Mike Ware & Glenn Cross

40 moves in 100 minutes, then after Black’s 40th move players receive an additional 20 minutes and the game is completed in the time remaining.
£30 in all categories provided the entry is postmarked before 1st September. All entries after that date will be charged a late entry fee of £4. ECF members may deduct £2.
Players who withdraw and request a refund must do so in writing before 1st September. If a refund is approved by the organisers the entry fee will be returned less £2 administration fee.
2010 Grades will apply to all sections (see ECF website www.bcf.org.uk). All results will be sent to the ECF for grading. It is a condition of entry that players agree to their grading information being published on the ECF website.
Players may claim a half point bye in any round except the last. ECF pairing rules will be used. After 30 minutes from the start of each round absent players will be defaulted and a new pairing may be made for any player whose opponent has not arrived or for any player who was initially awarded a bye.
Players without ECF grades but with an ELO/FIDE rating will be assigned a converted grade for the purposes of tournament eligibility and grading prizes.
No player may win more than one prize with the exception of Best Over 60 and Best
Manx. Where players finish equal, cash prizes will be shared, however if a player
wins more than one cash prize they will receive the larger of the prizes. The smaller
prize will be redistributed or re-
The controllers decisions will be final in all chess matters.
